What is Paintball?

Paintball is a combo combat play and survival hunting game. But rather than hunting animals with guns, folk shoot at one another with guns that shoot balls of paint thus the name.

The 1st paintball pistol was invented in 1970 as a tool for marking cattle and trees for excavation. The beginnings of the paintball games played today happened in the early 1980s. It quickly caught on as a profesional sport when Sports Illustrated published a tale about a paintball contest.

By 1993, it was receiving the notice of all of the sports media with the 1st TV broadcast contest appearing on ESPN. Keen paintball participators play on specifically laid out paintball fields. These contain specific bounds, barriers behind which players can hide, and sections that are neutral.

There also are indoor arenas for playing that are complete with viewing areas and lighting. The gear employed in paintball include the paintball gun and a facial mask or glasses as minimum protection. There are hunting-like outfits that help protect and camouflage players.
